Program Overview

About us

Piano Lessons in Your Home has been providing high-quality, in-home music lessons to families for over 30 years. Our experienced instructors bring music education right to your home, making lessons convenient and enjoyable. Through our program, you’ll experience personalized service, flexible scheduling, and a long-standing commitment to excellence in music education.

How lessons work

We provide private, in-home music lessons tailored to each student’s age, experience, and goals. Lessons are scheduled weekly with an assigned instructor, and we work with you to find a time that fits your or your family’s schedule.

Our instructors

All of our instructors are experienced musicians who have been carefully screened and background checked. We thoughtfully match each student with an instructor based on age, experience level, learning style, and scheduling needs. If adjustments are ever needed, we’re always happy to help find the right fit.  Before your first lesson occurs, you will receive a bio about your instructor.  They will also reach out to you to introduce themselves, learn about your student and confirm details for the first lesson.

Lesson length

Lesson length is selected at registration and may be adjusted over time as skills and focus develop. Your instructor can help determine the best fit, but here are some general guidelines:

Ages 5–6: 30 minutes

Shorter lessons help younger students stay focused and enjoy learning without fatigue.

Ages 7–10: 30–45 minutes

Many students start with 30 minutes and transition to 45 minutes as focus, reading skills, and practice habits develop.

Ages 11–14: 45 minutes

This length allows time for technique, repertoire, and musical concepts while keeping students engaged.

Ages 15+ (teens & adults): 45–60 minutes

Longer lessons support deeper musical study, goal-setting, and steady progress.

Younger siblings of regular monthly students may sign up for 15 minute mini lessons at the discretion of the instructor and student services director.  An adult, parent or guardian must be present for the lesson if the student is under the age of 18.

Billing & tuition

Monthly tuition covers four lessons per month, or 48 lessons per year, which allows flexibility throughout the year for vacations, holidays, weather, and scheduling changes.  A $35 non-refundable registration fee is required to get started and your first month is prorated depending on your start date.

Discounts are available for families with three or more students taking 90 minutes or more of lessons per week.

Cancellations & make-ups

We understand that schedules change.  Lessons canceled with at least 48 hours notice are eligible for a make-up lesson, unless there is an emergency or illness.  Make up lessons can be easily scheduled directly with your instructor.  Make up lessons can take place on any mutually agreed upon day and time with your instructor or you can split the time and add it to two upcoming lessons.

Recitals

Our instructors organize and conduct at least one recital per year to give students an opportunity to experience the performance aspect of musical education.  Student participation is optional, but encouraged.

Satisfaction guarantee

If you are not satisfied with the first lesson, let us know!  We have many instructors and want to find one that is the best fit for you or your student.  Otherwise, we are happy to refund the cost of your first lesson.

Ongoing enrollment

Our program is month-to-month, without any long term contract.  If you decide to discontinue lessons, a minimum of 30 days’ written notice is required.
